Event Details

Children's Equity ProjectaThe Children’s Equity Project and the Bipartisan Policy Center invite you to join us for a virtual event on Tuesday, July 14 at 12 p.m. PT to celebrate our new report, “Start with Equity – From the Early Years to the Early Grades: Data, Research, and an Actionable Child Equity Policy Agenda.”

The report reviews the state of the equity data, research, and policy landscapes from the early years to the early grades in key areas – including discipline, inclusion of children with disabilities, and dual language learning. It establishes an actionable, concrete policy road map for states and the federal government that can begin to bridge longstanding opportunity gaps and improve the learning conditions of children from historically marginalized communities.

The event will feature a presentation of the report’s findings and policy agenda and a panel of early childhood equity leaders who will discuss the report in the context of the modern uprising against systemic racism taking place across the country today. The 1.5 hour event will include time for questions from the audience.

Featuring:
Shantel Meek, Founding Director, Children’s Equity Project, Arizona State University
Linda Smith, Director, Early Childhood Initiative, Bipartisan Policy Center
Rosemarie Allen, President and CEO, Institute for Racial Equity and Excellence
Eugene Garcia, Professor Emeritus, Arizona State University
Mary Louise Hemmeter, Professor, Vanderbilt University

We will also host three additional webinars in subsequent weeks to take a deeper dive into each of the individual issue areas covered in our report: Addressing harsh discipline and its disproportionate application; increasing inclusion of children with disabilities; and expanding equitable access to dual language learning. Please stay tuned for additional information.
