Description: How can we encourage meaningful relationships for our sons and daughters with disabilities? How can we help create something that comes naturally for most children and adults? This interactive workshop will explore issues parents worry about most including loneliness, isolation, relationships, adolescence, sexuality, behaviors, and safety.
Presenter’s Bio: “Lance Morehouse, CEO Sherwood Community Services www.sherwoodcs.org Lance has had the opportunity to meet hundreds if not thousands of families with sons/daughters with disabilities over his career. His passion for this work comes from his experience as a father of two sons with significant disabilities. He was on the Washington State Fathers Network (WSFN) Steering Committee from 1999-2007, was Eastern Washington Regional Coordinator and also founded and facilitated the Spokane Fathers Network. He is the proud recipient of the WSFN Big Time Daddy Award in 1998. Lance continues to be connected with the WSFN and is part of a group of veteran dads who met through the WSFN and continue to meet to this day. In his professional life, Lance is CEO of Sherwood Community Services in Lake Stevens, Washington. Sherwood provides Early Intervention Services for infants and toddlers with developmental disabilities and delays as well as Vocational Services for adults with disabilities. With a tagline “Believing in Abilities” everything Sherwood does revolves around this belief and value.”
