What people are saying.
I have participated in the Edge of Amazing every year since its inception and have gained new insights each year; insights that have informed and enhanced collaborative efforts with many, many partners to make Snohomish County a safer, healthier community for everyone who lives here.”

Mary Jane (MJ) Brell Vujovic, Director Snohomish County Human Services

“I view Edge of Amazing as strengthening our community’s efforts to affect positive change; by viewing health as underpinned by a set of interwoven factors rather than a single data point, service providers throughout our region are better equipped to align resources and better support the individual. Every year, this event reminds me of how powerful Snohomish County truly is.”

Cameron Cassidy, Director, Professional Services Workforce Snohomish

About Providence Institute for a Healthier Community.
We’re Creating Healthier Communities Together.Edge of Amazing is an initiative of Providence Institute for a Healthier Community. PIHC aims to create healthier communities by focusing on whole-person health.

More than 60% of well-being is determined by social and economic factors like food security, housing and jobs. Rather than invest in clinical care alone, we’re working towards a more holistic and equitable approach, where local systems and services better support all dimensions of well-being for every community member.

HOW WE WORK
Listen to the Community

Health and well-being mean different things in different communities. We don’t tell communities what it means to be healthy, we ask them. Through community research, we identify the dimensions of well-being that matter to the communities we serve, then help them create pathways to address holes in health systems.

Create Interconnection

Social and medical professionals are often siloed, making it difficult for professionals to work together to address every dimension of an individual’s health. We create systems and forums that help medical and social care providers work together to address whole-person health.

Harness Community Power

We have everything we need to thrive within our communities, but some resources are under- or over-utilized. We’re working behind the scenes, collecting data and making connections that ultimately create more capacity to meet community needs.
