Please join us for the 2019 NW Children’s Foundation Forum, Community Trauma and Child Well-Being: Trauma-Informed Care and the Future of Healing. This community event features a keynote by Dr. Shawn Ginwright, Professor of Education in the Africana Studies Department at San Francisco State University, with opening remarks by Seattle pediatrician and community leader Dr. Benjamin Danielson.

NWCF Forums bring together an extensive network of community members, including direct service and health care providers, first responders, educators, researchers, child welfare experts, policymakers and others, to address the evolution of trauma-informed care to include healing-centered engagement. Using the latest research blended with personal stories, this year’s Forum will focus on how children can experience trauma and healing, not only at the individual level, but also at the community level.

We will explore how toxic environments and systems such as inequality, poverty, and racism are collectively experienced and therefore need a different approach to healing. Attendees will learn conceptual tools and practical strategies that support traumatized children, youth and the adults working with them, in a holistic and strength-based way.
