ABOUT THIS EVENT

This three-morning event will support our mission of lifting the voices of fathers in Washington State by promoting fatherhood inclusion, equity, and value to strengthen families and maximize children’s potential. Visit the Council website for more information.

WHO IS THE EVENT FOR?

Fathers, providers, lay and professional leaders, policy makers, philanthropists, and fatherhood advocates for three dynamic mornings of presentations and conversations to help Washington become a state where all men become the fathers they want to be.

You can view a brief agenda below or a full agenda here. You can also read the biographies of our feature speakers here.

Our summit will also have some unique components. We are hosting a photo contest and need your smiles. We know that representation matters but too often the Council and their partners struggle to find pictures of fathers with their kids. Share your pictures so that we can highlight all the amazing fathers in Washington. You can read more about how to enter the contest and its full rules here.

Vroom is here to share simple and fun ways to boost learning for children ages 0-5. Download the free Vroom app on your phone and you’ll discover hundreds of great activities that help your child’s brain grow and help you to bond. Join us March 17th from 12-1pm PT, for a Vroom focus group and tell us what you think about the app and how we can make it work better for dads. You will receive a gift card to compensate you for your time. On the registration page, check that you would like to participate in the Vroom focus group. The first 12 volunteers will be notified by email that they have been selected for the focus group.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This event will be entirely virtual on the Zoom platform for attendees. An individual meeting ID and password is provided once attendees register on the online event page if you have a free Eventbrite account. The Zoom information is also provided at the bottom of your registration confirmation e-mail.

Washington Interagency Fatherhood CouncilThe Washington Interagency Fatherhood Council was born out of a catalytic two-day fatherhood summit held in June 2018 where 140 interested stakeholders, including 40 fathers with lived experience, attended. The summit was supported and facilitated by nineteen statewide non-profit, academic, government, and community lead organizations. The summit culminated in a voting process to determine action steps and priorities for the coming year. The number one priority was to establish an ongoing, statewide organization made up of representatives from public, private and non-profit organizations as well as fathers, who would work together to improve how fathers are supported in their vital role in raising their children. The Council was formed to meet this request and began meeting in the fall of 2018.
