North Pacific Pediatrics Society (NPPS) 200th Conference on October 2-3 at Sleeping Lady in Leavenworth
For those of you who would like to plan a trip to a beautiful destination, get some quality CME and hang out with pediatric colleagues in person, then I want to encourage you to plan a weekend at Sleeping Lady in Leavenworth for October 2-3 weekend; we have some great speakers already lined up! We are anticipating a return to in-person conferences in a more vaccinated world, and of course, we will be working with the resort to make sure things are aligned with public health guidelines. This will happen to be our 200th Conference and a celebration of NPPS turning 100 years old! Please be aware that Oktoberfest has been officially canceled this year in Leavenworth, however on the bright side things will be a bit less crazy in the area for those looking for a nice retreat and some great food and socializing. For those who are not familiar, the core mission of NPPS has been to provide a CME experience with a focus on outstanding (and often entertaining) speakers with teaching geared toward primary care pediatricians. Presentations often have pearls to be used right away when you return to the clinic as well as themes that transcend clinical pediatrics. We are dedicated to the social experience of in-person learning, providing opportunities for Q&A and engagement with our speakers and fellow attendees. We try to select venues that provide great access to Pacific Northwest destinations while striving to provide great CME value overall. Although nothing beats the cost of free CME or the convenience of not having to leave home, aren’t you looking forward to planning a trip right now? Sleeping Lady is just 2-2.5 hours away by car with great accommodations. For those musically inclined, there are even performance spaces for you to practice on the grounds; for those who just want to relax and have some good food and drink, easy-peasy.
Some additional information:
CME schedule is Saturday morning and early afternoon and Sunday morning. Breakfasts and Saturday lunch are included with registration for attendees.
We are still finalizing the schedule and specific topics; however confirmed speakers include:
Markus Boos (Dermatology)
Monique Burton (Sports Medicine)
Maida Chen (Sleep Medicine)
Jonah Essers (GI)
Laura Kastner (psychologist & author on several books for parents)
Amy Lee (Neurosurgery)
Jack Salerno (Cardiology)
Christopher Zarella (Plastic Surgery)
Pending potential other speakers on topics including Urology, Psychiatry, Eating Disorders

We are currently planning to hold the 2021 NWRPCA/CHAMPS Fall Primary Care Conference in-person and are looking forward to seeing you in Seattle, WA this autumn! This will be a traditional – slightly scaled-back – in-person event, with plenty of opportunities to reconnect with peers and colleagues. We’re optimistic about the upcoming year; however, we are prepared should we need to transition to a virtual event.
This conference will provide the education and training, information and resource sharing, coalition building, and program and policy development it’s known for, and we are excited to connect in person once again. Sessions designed for community health professionals will be broken into these seven tracks:
Clinical & Care Innovations
Fundamentals of Board Governance/Leadership
Workforce & HR Optimization
So mark your calendars for
