The Washington State Department of Health (DOH) has been awarded a Project LAUNCH (Linking Actions for Unmet Needs in Children’s Health) Expansion grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). This will build on the success of the first Project LAUNCH by expanding the key elements of targeting early childhood settings that serve infants and toddlers of high risk populations including military families.
Training and technical assistance will focus on developmental screening, mental health consultation, and workforce development. An oversight council provides alignment of child wellness efforts across agencies and organizations. DOH is partnering with Yakima partners from the original LAUNCH grant to spread this work into the three new sites in our state-Benton-Franklin, Chelan-Douglas, and North Thurston County. This work aligns well with the Help Me Grow Washington common agenda, so let’s be thinking about how to connect this work most potently.
